Centralized Orchestration and Management

GigaVUE-FM fabric manager simplifies and automates the configuration, management, and operation of the Gigamon Hawk Deep Observability Pipeline, with unified visibility across physicalvirtual, and multi-cloud deployments. With an intent-based policy automation approach, NetOps, SecOps, and CloudOps teams are more efficient at creating and deploying policies at scale based on their roles. A centralized, rich, and customizable dashboard provides easy-to-use programmable APIs for ease of integration with tools and SDN controllers, role-based access control, end-to-end topology visualization, simplified workflows, external SNMP support, and alarm management to reduce mean time to resolution.

Available either as a hardware appliance or as software-only on virtual or physical platforms, each GigaVUE-FM instance can manage up to 1,000 visibility nodes across multiple locations and up to 3,000 visibility nodes in high-availability FM arrangements.

In dynamic and large-scale environments, the demand for more agility, automation, and security across the IT infrastructure is increasing. GigaVUE-FM enables automation through Gigamon Hawk pre-defined python modules and Ansible as a framework to invoke GigaVUE-FM REST APIs. This enables the provisioning and management of network traffic and data accessed by the Gigamon visibility nodes within your network. These APIs can be used by traffic monitoring tools, security orchestration, automation and response (SOAR) tools, IT operations management, and SDN controllers to:

  • Discover and collect inventory information of Gigamon Hawk to be used for capacity planning or configuration management database (CMDB) analysis
  • Update traffic flows in Gigamon Hawk for network traffic redirection or reduction
  • Program traffic policies to respond to new threat patterns, such as decrypting SSL/TLS, generating NetFlow, or even blocking flows in the network
