Gigamon’s GigaVUE® 420 supports High Density 10GigE
access

Complementing the GigaVUE®-MP with better 10GigE port density

Silicon Valley, CA - March 11, 2008

Gigamon Systems, manufacturer of the unique GigaVUE® family of Data Access Switches which bridges the chasm between production networks and their monitoring and security tools, recently announced the release of the GigaVUE® 420 with a much higher density 10 GigE access and support capability.

The GigaVUE® 420 offers four (4) 10GigE ports in addition to twenty (20) GigE ports. The GigaVUE® 420 can now connect up to four (4) 10GigE span ports or optical taps or be used to interconnect or stack multiple GigaVUE®’s to form a high density access fabric for extensible access for distribution to monitoring tools. Using the GigaVUE®’s innovative mapping function, it can divide traffic and distribute the packets to different GigE or 10GigE tools according to a variety of powerful and flexible map and filter rules.

Since its introduction in 2005, the GigaVUE® product family has achieved widespread acceptance throughout the many different sectors, including but not limited to the telecom, banking, ecommerce, health care, financial, manufacturing, government, military, and insurance industries. Today over 250 customers (with over 1000 units) worldwide have been using the GigaVUE® to solve and enhance their network security, performance monitoring, analysis, troubleshooting and compliance needs. Sohail Bharmani of National Instruments says – “The new GigaVUE® 420 units provide increased capacity with additional 10GbE and GbE ports. These ports can be used for network ports, tool ports or stack ports which will provide National Instruments with the expandability and extensibility needed to fully realize our investment in Gigamon as our requirements change over time. The ability to use their unique cross box data mapping feature allows us to provide or send a very specific data set to the more specialized tools we employ in our enterprise for management and support. With the added horse power, additional ports, and added functionality, I am able to truly provide and support an any to many data aggregation for any data available on our campus head quarters location in Austin.” Great Job!

The GigaVUE® product is continuously evolving in technology, capability and capacity to support the networks of the future, and with the release of the GigaVUE® 420 as proof that Gigamon listens to their customers. Gigamon will continue to provide the industry with new and innovative data access technologies needed to solve real data access problems while enabling critical network monitoring.
