GigaVUE Reboot Commands
Which commands in the GigaVUE require a reboot of the system?
Answer: The following changes require the system to be rebooted for the changes to take effect. If SPAN/Mirror ports or internal/external fiber taps are connected to the GigaVUE there is no interruption of the network traffic due to a reboot of the system.
If the internal copper taps (GigaTAP-TX) are used to tap links, those links will be interrupted twice. The first interruption occurs when the GigaVUE first goes into reboot mode and the relays are changed to passive mode. The second interruption occurs after the system has completed its reboot and the relays are changed to active mode. Each link interruption will last approximately 3 seconds. Reason for the 3 seconds is because each time the relay in the GigaTAP-TX switches from active to passive or vice versa, the end devices PHY chips must renegotiate the link parameters with its neighbor before it can resume the link up and that takes about 3 seconds, even though the relay state change takes only a few milliseconds.
It takes about 30 to 40 seconds for the entire system to reboot and reinitialize.

Using the config restore command will momentarily delete all the connections and restore them, even though the system does not reboot.
